Here you will find information on the history of Fort St. Joseph and the efforts of Western Michigan University archaeologists to unlock the secrets of this long lost, but not forgotten, frontier outpost of New France. Since our discovery of the site on the ground in 1998 we have begun to piece together its colonial history from artifacts, features (e.g., building remains), ecofacts (i.e., animal bones and plant remains), and documents.
