St. Joseph Church and Shrine

National Register of Historic Places
st.jpg

This beautiful historic stone church and Stations of the Cross located west of the Irish Hills Towers on the shore of the placid and broad Iron Lake. St. Joseph Shrine was established in 1854 and for the first 100 years was a mission church. Step inside and feel the peace of the inspiring chapel. Experience the Way of the Cross, depicting Christ's journey of Golgotha by following the stations that start in the side yard of the church on a hill overlooking the lake and then lead down, along stone steps hewed into the earth. Each is a work of art with its inlaid tiles depicting Christ's travails and also an inspiration. There is also an outdoor rosary at the family center next door.
