Eastern Residential District

The east side of downtown Clinton along Michigan Avenue (U.S. 12 outside of the city limits) is lined with stately old trees and historic homes some from the times of the earliest settlers including one, a Greek Revival style, that dates to the 1830s.  The others are grand manses from the 19^th and early 20^th century and comprise such architectural styles as Gothic Revival, Italianate, Queen Anne, Colonial Revival, Arts and Crafts bungalows and vernacular house types.  Several still have their carriage houses as well as old barns.
