W.J. Hayes State Park is located on the southern shore of Wamplers Lake and located in the heart of the Irish Hills, which known for its 52 inland lakes and rolling hills. The 78-acre park offers a modern campground, a large swimming area, two boat launches, a fishing pier, trails, a picnic shelter, interpretive programs and more. In addition, there are opportunities for geocaching, metal detecting and much more.
Don't miss out on other nearby experiences - all in the Irish Hills! All within five miles, there are two other Michigan state parks that offer a very different experience. Cambridge Junction Historic State Park is home to a popular farmer's market, a reconstructed 1840s barn, the Walker Tavern Historic Site, vintage baseball games, concerts and more. Watkins Lake State Park and County Preserve is known for its quiet setting, wildlife viewing and its 5-mile trail. In addition, Lake Hudson Recreation Area is located just 25 miles away and is home to a designated dark sky preserve, a campground, a swimming beach and more.
